Perfect photos don’t just happen, at least for most of us. Professional photographers may be able to get that exact shot because they have an eye for detail. Normal folks need a photo editor. Thankfully, there are lots of them available for your mobile or tablet. What you’re looking for is an app that can store your photos, edit them, and distribute pics and videos to friends and family. Here’s a short list of what we recommend.

Google Photos

Pictures take up a lot of space. Videos are even larger. With Google Photos, you never have to worry about running out of storage room. It’s a cloud application, so space is unlimited. You’ll no longer have to concern yourself with migrations when you change phones, either. Just simply open the app on any device and everything will be right there. Google photos comes with advanced editing tools for photos and videos, so every shot will be exactly what you want it to be. Best of all, it’s Google, so it works on all devices.

Pixlr

Just download Pixlr and start editing. There’s no sign-up, subscription, or credit card required. This app comes with a full suite of photo editing tools. Adjust colors, use double exposure, remove blemishes, and even add text to your pictures if you want to. Pixlr has a tool called Stylize which can give you pencil sketches, poster effects, watercolors and more. You get everything you need to make all your shots look like professional photos. Pixlr gives you everything more expensive apps offer and it’s completely free.

Amazon Photos

If we’re going to put Google on this list, we have to include Amazon also. Right? How do the two compare? Amazon photos is a photo storage app, not an editing tool. If you’re a Prime member, this service is free. That’s why we’re including it. From a portability perspective, Amazon Photos is one of your best options if you want to be able to show photos on all your devices. It comes with unlimited high-resolution photo storage and up to 5 GB for video storage. You can also create a family vault and add up to five more users for free.

Simple Gallery

This app provides exactly what it advertises. A simple experience. Simple Gallery is an offline photo editing tool. You install it on your mobile device, and it gives you the ability to crop, edit, and save photos and videos in galleries you can create to your user specifications. Share photos with friends and family. Recover seemingly lost or deleted videos. There’s no internet connection needed, so if you’re at the beach or in the woods with no signal, you can still use it. It’s free, it’s simple, and it supports multiple file types, including JPEG, PNG, MP4, and GIFs.

Shutterfly

Photo editors are cool. Shutterfly takes it to the next level. This app is a must-have tool to create photo books and cards that can be enjoyed by all your friends and loved ones. It’s great for creating birthday and anniversary presents. You can even set up a wedding album. Looking for something new and different for the kids? Shutterfly has a new library of children’s designs perfect for any holiday or birthday party.
